Artists Statement
The initial concept of this artwork was inspired by an untitled Louis Perentos poem with an optimistic sense of earth’s cyclic life sustaining power. This poem, together with my present research of the village where I was born where the natural spring water fountain is still freely running and situated in the centre of the small community gave me the visual image. I pay homage to water as a universal element, flowing and sustaining all generations with their diversity of cultures.
Limassol, 1999.
Louis Perentos’ Poem
Everything is made to be lost
Some morning, some night
The houses, the streets, all materials
And only you
Reigning and fertile
You give birth to our dreams
The endless dreams of life
Without demands
Patient Mother
You hold in your embrace
Every race, every God.
There are some really good & beautiful works here! Compliments.
