Stainless Waters is a series of works that develops themes Helene has started to investigate in her previous show, Steel Life. The concepts of energy and movement, in their most abstract, scientific and metaphysical sense, materialize on the canvases and stainless steel pieces. Her highly textured paintings on canvas contrast with the hard edged yet highly atmospheric stainless steels, shapes of which jump in and out of the surface in a holographic manner. This exhibition was conceived as a result of an investigation to comprehend where form and movement meet. Helene’s resources quote as diverse people as Albert Einstein and Mirsea Eliades whom in her painterly deductions all arrive in the same conclusion: Form does not disappear but it transforms into energy/spirit. It is the spirit of this energy that Helene depicts in her art. A spirit which is divorced from traditional means of representation and convention, and gives the viewer the sole responsibility to decipher the works. Her theme of Water links all the ideas together. Water to her appropriately becomes a mass of powerful formless energy along the shores of the well ordered nature of the Cypriot artistic mainstream.
